Over 400 people gathered in the Imperial Ballroom at the Hotel Syracuse on Tuesday, July 27 for the Downtown Committee Annual Meeting. Guests listened to presentations on the latest developments in downtown Syracuse, including an overview by Downtown Committee Executive Director David Mankiewicz of the past year's downtown successes and details of the planned renovations of the Hotel Syracuse given by Berkley Acquisition's Eli Braha. Todd Swanson, Senior District Manager for Urban Outfitters, gave the keynote address, providing information on Urban Outfitters' company history, as well as details on the new Armory Square location. Downtown Committee Awards of Excellence were presented to retailer Joel Shapiro, Pastabilities owner Karyn Korteling and the Everson Museum of Art. The Syracuse Police Department received a Downtown Committee Exceptional Service Award.
