Downtown East
The Downtown East business area is located around one of the largest green-space parks in downtown Syracuse. The Fayette-Firefighters Memorial Park is a great place to spend time in the summer, a visual treat throughout the fall and during the Holiday season.
Downtown East has its own business association that is open to residents, business and property owners who seek to address the concerns of the downtown east community in a collaborative manner. The vision of the Downtown East Business Association is the creation and maintenance of a dynamic, energized area within the central business district, which encourages business growth and economic development. Members of the association take full advantage of the park in the winter with their own holiday tree lighting. Downtown East business association meetings are held the last wednesday of each month. The Downtown East Business Association has begun a public education program that will include tours of the park, brochures that provide background information on the area, and a podcast that can be downloaded for a self-guided tour. This program is the result of a collaborative effort between the Downtown East Business Association; SUNY ESF students; City of Syracuse Firefighters, Local 280; the Downtown Committee of Syracuse and the Onondaga Historical Association.
