Downtown Shopping Night Invites Community Into Downtown Syracuse to Cross Items off Holiday Shopping Lists
Thursday, December 17, 2015
Syracuse, NY - On Thursday, December 17, nearly two dozen merchants and retailers located throughout Downtown Syracuse are extending their hours into the evening to invite the community to shop for items on their holiday shopping lists. Many participating stores will be open until 8:00 pm. Please find a complete list of participating stores below.
Thursday is the second of two Downtown Shopping Nights this season, spearheaded by Kellie Gingold of Showoffs Boutique. With one week left to shop for holiday gifts, Gingold’s goal was to find a creative way to encourage the community to find special gift(s) for their loved ones before the proverbial eleventh hour. The first Downtown Shopping Night was held last week, Thursday, December 10, and was geared toward women. This Thursday, it’s the men’s turn. However, all shoppers are welcome to participate.
“Downtown Syracuse offers a great shopping experience beyond the economic advantages of buying local,” said John Massara, owner of Projex214, who shares retail space at 214 West Jefferson Street with Gingold. “Our merchandise is hand-picked and unique. Downtown merchants live and breathe what they do. They understand fashion and how to wear it, as well as the latest retail trends and what's hot.”
With 73 retail shops, boutiques and art galleries – featuring jewelry and apparel for men and women, home furnishing and houseware, art and music, as well as gift, cards and souvenir shops – Downtown Syracuse is the retail destination in Central New York.
“Whether you’re looking for a new toy for your kids, a unique gift for your significant other, or still searching for that one-of-a-kind item that tells a story, we're confident you’ll find it here, in Downtown Syracuse,” said Merike Treier, executive director of the Downtown Committee. “From jewelry, to art, to clothing, the diversity of merchants located within 82 blocks has you covered.”
Select participating stores will serve light snacks and beverages to enhance the shopping experience.
For more information about holiday promotions happening throughout Downtown Syracuse, please email the Downtown Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org to subscribe to its special holiday newsletter. The newsletter, sent electronically every Monday through December, details family-friendly events as well as special deals and promotions from Downtown retailers, restaurants and museums.
