Progress Breakfast: Destination Downtown to Highlight Downtown Syracuse's Retail, Sports-Tourism and Cuisine Attractions
Monday, October 23, 2017
Syracuse, NY – More than 150 guests are expected to attend the next Progress Breakfast presented by the Downtown Committee of Syracuse, Inc. and Eric Mower + Associates; and there are still seats available! The event, which celebrates Downtown Syracuse as a Destination, is set for this Thursday, October 26 at 8:00 am in the Ballroom of the Oncenter (map). The event features three exciting speakers, who will share their Downtown Syracuse stories.
Presenter Line-Up: First, Kathie Morris, owner of The Changing Room, a specialty women’s boutique located at 425 South Warren Street, will shed light on how Downtown’s retail climate complements its residential landscape as a center of activity. Morris, who expanded her boutique to Downtown Syracuse in 2014, is also a Downtown resident. Guests can look forward to hearing her unique perspective on Downtown Syracuse as a 24/7 destination.
Then, Vance Lederman, Senior Vice President of Business Operations for the Syracuse Crunch, will share how having an AHL team in Downtown Syracuse has infused new energy into the city center. Lederman, who has lived in Syracuse for 20+ years, will share the humorous story of how he and his childhood friend, Crunch owner Howard Dolgan, first found themselves in Syracuse, and the many reasons why they stayed. Guests will get a behind-the-scenes look into Crunch operations, and learn firsthand about the team’s commitment to our community.
Finally, John Stage, owner and founder of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, will speak about the early success the Dinosaur achieved in Downtown Syracuse, and how the flagship restaurant helped put Syracuse on the map as a culinary destination. Guests may be surprised to hear about the ways the Syracuse restaurant continues to set an example for the ever-expanding Dinosaur Bar-B-Que empire.
As part of this special program, all presenters will make themselves available after breakfast, so that guests may mingle and network in a more personal setting.
Tickets (priced at $25 for an individual seat, or $200 for a table of eight) are on sale now, and will be available until tomorrow, Tuesday, October 24 online. You may also call 315-422-8284 and reserve your tickets over the phone, to be paid for on the day of the event.
The Progress Breakfast was designed to celebrate the forward-thinking and progress that has fueled recent redevelopment in Downtown Syracuse. The last time the event was held, it drew a sold-out crowd of 200 guests at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown. Guests learned about three specific themes specific to the Arts and Cultural scene in Downtown Syracuse, and how the Arts contribute to Downtown’s renaissance.
“The Progress Breakfast provides an inspiring forum to build upon the progress storyline that resonates among Downtown residents, employees and visitors,” said Merike Treier, executive director of the Downtown Committee. “Kathie, Vance and John add unique voices to Downtown’s story, and we’re looking forward to getting a glimpse into their worlds to gain an understanding for how retail, sports and barbeque cuisine, respectively, drive tourism and have helped establish Downtown’s status as a sought-after destination. We’re proud to partner with Eric Mower + Associates to present this Progress Breakfast series.”
