Fall Progress Breakfast

2024 Date TBD - Last Year's Event Below

The Good Morning Downtown Syracuse Progress Breakfast Series Fall edition took place October 18th, 2023.

The theme of the Fall Progress Breakfast, presented in partnership by the Downtown Committee of Syracuse, Inc. and National Grid, focused on the variety of housing, businesses and services that solidify Downtown Syracuse as a distinctive destination.

First, Meg O’Connell, Executive Director of the Allyn Family Foundation, spoke about the efforts and vision of the Allyn Family Foundation in re-energizing southern downtown and why their work is so critical to the future of our community. O’Connell feels the Chimes Building project is unique and fills a void with needed mixed-income housing.

Next, Carmen Cesta, Owner of Carm’s Dog House, shared the vision behind bringing his 4th location of Carm’s Dog House to the Byrne Square Building in Downtown Syracuse. With the planned opening of the doggie daycare facility later this fall, Cesta took the audience through his plans to bring a series of doggie amenities Downtown, including a doggie bakery, a swimming pool and doggie valet.

Then, Cha McCoy, Owner of The Communion Wine & Spirits, shared why she decided to bring her international wine expertise to Downtown Syracuse. McCoy spoke about the journey of her business and the lessons she has learned as she celebrated the one-year anniversary of her business opening earlier this month.

The Progress Breakfast event is known for providing exclusive previews of people, places, projects and overall items of interest that the community is buzzing about.

The 2023 Progress Breakfast Series is presented by the Downtown Committee and National Grid. It receives corporate support from FustCharles and SWBR and receives media support from the Central New York Business Journal.

The breakfasts are held in the spring and fall each year.
